In this long overdue interview, we sit down for a long chat with Ian Cowell. Famous for his excellent guitar tone, his use of sampling and unapologetic sense of humor, Ian also likes to speak his mind, wear a tunic and perform along his bandmates.

As an extremely prolific arranger and producer, he has numerous bands and album releases under his belt. He is also an integral part of the Dwelling of Duels community and the VGM scene at large, having performed at conventions and events such as VGM Con and MAGFest.

He takes us on a comprehensive journey through his origins, musical career, sources of inspiration and what it’s like to work with all his talented friends and collaborators. We focus on MagicIan, his latest “solo” album released last year, but we also touch on his several other projects and his participation in the Dwelling of Duels competition.
