This month was extremely busy for the Mega Mixtape team! Makoto (now known as MVisual in the community) contributed with some amazing photography for both TheManPF and Dwelling of Duels, while Naop got to collaborate with Mustin (from The OneUps band), among other things. It also marks the return of a couple of our favorite artists from way back!
As you can infer from the episode art, we pay tribute to another fighting game character: Terry Bogard, and his theme “Kurikinton” from Fatal Fury 2, in an arrangement by Thennecan. It helps us open a very heavy metal segment, with a new releases from GillStudio, Shrednobi and TheManPF.
Our DoD segment is all about Final Fantasy VI, and in true old school Mega Mixtape fashion, features two versions of the same source: “Phantom Forest”. Along the music, Forest vs. Jungle month brought some interesting developments that promise to shape the team’s projects going forward.
For our album of the month, we have the triumphant return of Jazz Paladin, an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist who delivers a very emotional tribute of the music of Wild Arms. He had to learn how to play new instruments, and even his whole family was brought along for the ride! The result was extremely endearing, but also compelling.
We inaugurate a new segment dedicated to the GameGrooves label, highlighting their latest album release: Lounging in the Velvet Room. Hands down, some of the best Persona jazz you’ll find!
Finally, we close off with new tracks from The OneUps and the pianist EndlessRepeat. Quite a packed month, and extremely relevant to us! We hope you enjoy the music as much as we did.
